Powtiva is 100% compliant with French regulations
Prepaid energy management for furnished rentals is regulated by law. Powtiva respects all legal obligations, electrical standards and regulations in force.
Total transparency, guaranteed compliance.
This page describes the French regulatory framework. Regulations may differ in your country. Please consult a local legal advisor for guidance specific to your jurisdiction.
What is protected, what is managed
Powtiva distinguishes essential circuits (always active) from comfort circuits (manageable). A legal obligation we scrupulously respect.
Always active — never cut off
Legal obligation — these circuits are never interrupted
Comfort circuits — load-sheddable
Cut only when the prepaid balance is exhausted
Airbnb, holiday homes, seasonal rentals
Tourist rentals offer great contractual freedom. Prepaid energy fits naturally into booking conditions.
No standard lease
Tourist rentals are not subject to the French Tenancy Act of July 6, 1989. You freely set the conditions in your house rules or booking terms.
Contractual freedom
You can include an energy quota in the nightly rate and charge overconsumption to the guest. Simply mention it clearly in the listing and terms.
Mandatory transparency
The guest must be informed before booking of the energy conditions: included quota, price per additional kWh, how the prepaid system works.
Furnished and unfurnished leases
For standard leases, the framework is stricter. Powtiva adapts while respecting the decency decree and landlord obligations.
Decency decree n°2002-120
The dwelling must have an adequate heating system. Powtiva does not remove heating: it makes it prepaid. The tenant can always heat their home by topping up their balance.
Mandatory lease clause
The prepaid energy management system must be mentioned in the lease or an addendum. The tenant must know the kWh price, how load shedding works and recharge procedures.
Provision ≠ payment
The landlord is obligated to provide a functional heating system, but not to pay for the tenant's consumption. Prepaid is a method of paying charges, not a removal of service.
NF C 15-100 compliance
The Powtiva installation complies with the French NF C 15-100 standard for low-voltage electrical installations.
Qualified electrician
Installation is carried out exclusively by a qualified electrician, in accordance with professional standards and NF C 15-100.
Electrical panel
Meters and modules are installed in the existing electrical panel, on standard DIN rail. No structural modification to the network.
Full compliance
The modules used are CE certified and comply with European low-voltage directives. The installation does not modify the existing electrical layout.
No visible modification
The system is installed inside the closed electrical panel. The tenant sees no change in the dwelling. Switches and outlets work normally.
GDPR compliance
Powtiva complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in all its operations.
Hosted in France
All data is hosted on servers located in France. No data transfer outside the European Union.
SSL/TLS encryption
All communications are encrypted with SSL/TLS. Payment data is processed by Stripe (PCI DSS Level 1 certified).
No sharing with third parties
Powtiva does not sell or share personal data with third parties. Consumption data remains strictly between the owner and the tenant.
User rights
Right of access, rectification and deletion of your data at any time. Contact: privacy@powtiva.com. Retention period: 3 years after end of contract.
The tenant knows everything, in real time
Transparency is at the heart of Powtiva. The tenant has access to all information about their consumption and rights.
Real-time monitoring
The tenant accesses a web portal (QR code) with their balance, current consumption, history and detailed readings. No hidden information.
Displayed pricing
The kWh price, included quota and overconsumption conditions are clearly displayed. The tenant knows the rules even before booking.
Zero hidden fees
No commission on top-ups, no overcharging. The tenant pays exactly what they consume at the announced rate. Unused balance can be refunded at checkout.
